We had the pleasure of welcoming author Bruce Hale to our school today! Bruce has written or illustrated over 70 seriously funny books for kids and travels the world sharing his love of reading and storytelling. Some of his popular titles include:

The Mystery of Mr. Nice
Snoring Beauty
Big Bad Detective Agency
The students were thrilled to meet Bruce and learn about his writing process. His visit was both entertaining and inspiring, leaving a lasting impression on our young readers.
A huge thank you to Bruce Hale for making the journey from Santa Barbara, California, to spend the morning with us. It was a fantastic experience that we won’t soon forget!
Elementary School Aide Position
The 5th Grade has read 153 picture books this school year and counting! Every ELA class starts with a picture book. This gives good opportunities to compare and contrast books, talk about themes and morals of stories, and have student-led discussions. We are celebrating 5 years of reading picture books in 5th Grade!

Last night was the Elementary Polar Bear Showcase, and what a fantastic evening it was! We had a great turnout, and the kids truly shined. From creative projects to thoughtful displays, it was clear how much effort each child put into their work. So impressive!
A big shoutout to our talented musicians as well. The 5th & 6th grade band performed and the 4th graders played their recorders. They are so talented and did an outstanding job.
Thank you to all the staff, students, and families who made the evening so special. These are the moments that remind us why being a Polar Bear is something to celebrate.
The softball tournament game is Thursday, May 15. The date was incorrect in the message sent earlier.
Tonight's baseball and softball games at Elgin have been postponed. Updates on rescheduling will be sent out later this evening.
Congratulations to the 2024-2025 Student Leader United Class!
Today, 26 students representing all of the Hardin County schools graduated from the Student Leader United program at Mid-Ohio Energy. This incredible group of young leaders spent the year learning, growing, and finding ways to make a positive impact in their communities.
A special shoutout to Cody Thiel, Keston Emerine, Stella Morrison and Alexis Oakley for proudly representing Hardin Northern!
Throughout the program, these students explored leadership, development, evaluated community needs, and even reviewed and awarded grant money to support meaningful projects within their communities. Student Leadership members were able determine grant money winners by examining applications & coming to a consensus. Mr Ruhlen & Mrs Rodabaugh were selected to use the grant money to purchase additional supplies/materials to enhance the learning environment for their students. Money was also allotted for the Polar Pantry which is an after school snack program for students involved in extracurricular activities.

The varsity softball team will host Ridgemont tomorrow (5/16) in the OHSAA Sectional Final at 5pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at the link below or at the game. NO passes will be accepted.

Yesterday, our Hardin Northern Kindergarten through 3rd grade students were treated to a day of fun with bounce houses and snow cones! This special reward was in recognition of their hard work to reach their Lexia goals for the year. Keep up the great work, everyone!
The softball game at North Baltimore has been cancelled.
The NWCC HS track prelims scheduled for tonight (5/13) at Elgin have been cancelled. The meet will now be run as a finals only meet at Elgin on Friday (5/16) with field events starting at 4:00 pm.
