After studying how landforms change and how movement shapes Earth’s surface, fourth grade students applied their learning to explore topographic maps. Using play-doh, they created different elevation levels to see how these changes are represented on maps!

Motivation Monday!
“You don’t have to be perfect to be amazing.”
Mistakes don’t define you. Effort does. You’re going to stumble sometimes-that’s okay. What matters is that you get back up and keep trying. Bears, show up and be your best, not perfect.

The first graders have been studying animals and practicing research. They were able to choose which animal they wanted to research and then wrote facts about their animal. Then they used their facts to write a book. They really enjoyed this project and loved making their own book!

Mrs. Hackworth's first grade at Hardin Northern has been researching animals and their characteristics. Each student wrote a nonfiction book about an animal.

Today our Junior High and High School students got to celebrate the end of their first quarter success with a Grit House Rally! Each Grit House designed an escape room to challenge all the students to solve the clues and make their way out — and it was a blast!
Afterward, everyone joined in for a fun game of Friendly Feud, with all the questions centered around school-related topics. Laughter, teamwork, and school spirit filled the gym as students competed and cheered each other on. What an awesome way to wrap up the first quarter!

The fourth grade tackled their first novel of the year this month reading Bunnicula by Deborah and James Howe. They have learned strategies for tackling hard vocabulary, written from the perspective of different characters, and mastered describing setting, characters, and events using details! They can’t wait to check out the other books in the series! 📚
