Good luck Kylie! ⛳

The smell of burning coal was in the air and history was booming Tuesday afternoon as the History Brigade hosted their annual Living History Day. Rain threatened all afternoon but it didn't dampen the spirits of any of the children or the presenters.
Grades K-6 had the opportunity to learn about Civil War artillery, practice Civil War drill, learn about a War of 1812 signal gun, and watch a blacksmith work on some small projects. Student presentations included child labor, the FFA, women's suffrage, and old-time farming.
We would like to give a special shout out to Mrs. Cross. She and her classes continue to dazzle us with a fantastic luncheon before the festivities and a very popular presentation on the history of teddy bears.
It's always a great day for history!

Hardin Northern's History Brigade is hosting Living History Day and will start firing the cannon in the next 10-15 minutes. Be prepared for loud noises coming from the school!

What a great night for football! Tonight, at the Hardin Northern football game, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the 2004 state championship. It was incredible to see so many former players, coaches, and family members back to honor such a special time.
It was also a historic night as Hardin Northern officially dedicated the new football field to the Hall of Fame coach, Pete Brunow. The field will now be known as Pete Brunow Field, and it was heartwarming to see so many of his former players in attendance to celebrate this moment.
To top it all off, the Hardin Northern football team had an amazing victory over Perry 38-15! Congrats to the team on a well-deserved win. What a way to make the evening even more memorable! Go Bears!
Nolan Hopson: 36 carries for 214 yards, 1 reception for 12 yards, 4 TD. Xander Wilson: 5/10 passing for 104 yards, 14 carries for 116 yards, 2 TD Passes. Dylan Bacon and Mason Stewart each had a TD reception.

Mrs. Monday's kindergarten class has been learning about opinion writing. This week, we planned, organized, and created a final copy of 'Our Favorite Color'. As kindergarteners, we are learning what each type of writing is, while using drawings to express our thoughts.

Students in Mrs. Cano's Art IV class learned about the life and art of Yayou Kusama, sometimes called the Princess of Polka Dots. She is a Japanese contemporary artist who is a painter and sculptor most well known for her extensive use of polka dots, infinity installations and her use of bright and bold colors. This is part one of a two part unit in which students will create an acrylic painting in Kusama's style and then sculpt a 3D pumpkin from wire and mache. The pumpkins, which are another signature of Yayou Kusama's work, will be painted in bright, bold colors and will be decorated with polka dots.
