Second grade was inspired by one of their stories Violet the Pilot and in Makerspace put their engineering skills to the test! They built their own airplane. They were able to test their creations outside to see if any flew. Unfortunately, many experienced a crash landing. ✈️

The sixth grade just finished reading Alice in Wonderland! Along the way, they used their creativity to illustrate scenes and characters from the story, bringing Wonderland to life through their own artistic eyes.

Tomorrow, we look forward to welcoming back Hardin Northern graduate, Gideon Fisher, who will be filming around our building for a new district commercial. As part of this effort, we ask that all K-12 students wear as much Polar Bear spirit wear and school colors to school tomorrow to highlight our Polar Bear pride! He will be filming through the day and will be counting on a sea of school colors to bring their spirit to our senior pep rally tomorrow! Students who plan to attend our varsity football game are asked to wear neon after school to the game to show our support for the team, band, and cheerleaders to bring home a win against USV! Go Bears!

Second graders have been learning about narratives in writing. Students took on the task of writing a suspenseful and spooky narrative of their own. They each chose characters, a setting, a problem, and items to include in their writing. They worked on beginning their narrative with a hook to catch the attention of their readers. They also incorporated sensory and descriptive words to add details to their writing. To keep readers interested, students learned ways to create suspense in their narratives. Second graders had a blast being creative during this project and enjoyed sharing their writing with others.
