Today, the elementary students found a surprising note from none other than the Grinch! He apologized for trying to take Daisy Mae yesterday and, to make up for his naughty behavior over the past few weeks, he left a special gift-chocolate for each student!
We’re just glad the Grinch is gone and that he had a change of heart before Christmas. The Christmas spirit is alive and well at Hardin Northern.

Last night, Hardin Northern hosted Cory-Rawson for junior high boys’ basketball, and it was an exciting evening on the court!
The 8th grade team came out on top with a hard-fought 35-26 victory. Leading scorers for the Bears were Landon Blair with 9 points and Blayne Kindle with 7 points.
The 7th grade came out on top as well with a 31-12 victory over Cory-Rawson. Leading scorers for 7th grade were Talon Motter with 12 points and Rune Frater with 8 points.
Keep up the great work, teams! Way to go Bears!

Our second graders had a blast this week solving story problems to build their very own gingerbread people! Each student solved a series of problems to earn a piece of their gingerbread person. From eyes to buttons, they used their math skills to unlock all the pieces—and the best part? They got to be creative and design their gingerbread people however they wanted!
Both the boys and girls JH basketball games scheduled for 12/18 will be played at HN due to Vanlue only having one team for each. The 7th grade boys will play at 5:30p, followed by the 8th grade girls.
The 5th graders just finished an exploratory project on Ancient Civilizations in the Western Hemisphere. Students were asked to research 8 characteristics of either the Inca, Maya, Mississippian, or Aztec Civilizations. They presented their findings to the class by using a slide presentation and a poster. Great job, 5th Grade!
Today, our second graders put their problem-solving skills to the test in a fun Gingerbread Man Escape Room! They worked together to crack clues, solve puzzles, and complete challenges like finding the main idea, creating compound words, decoding the alphabet, mastering letter blends, and tackling an ABC order puzzle. With each clue, they eliminated where the Gingerbread Man wasn't hiding, until finally... they found his secret spot! Amazing teamwork and brain power at work!
Today, all students in grades 7-12 enjoyed the second annual House Family Dining Meal, a wonderful event hosted by our junior high and high school staff. The focus was to give each student the experience of a special holiday meal, sitting together like family around beautiful, custom made centerpieces and place settings.
The atmosphere was heartwarming, with live piano music setting the tone and a cozy fireplace displayed on the big screen. Students enjoyed delicious homemade desserts and goodies prepared by their House Family leaders, along with a free catered Christmas lunch for all K-12 students featuring Smokehouse 101 turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls, green beans, and punch.
It was a meaningful experience filled with joy, gratitude, and memories to carry into the holiday season. Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this event so special!

On Thursday, Hardin Northern's Preschool classes participated in Santa Night at Simon Kenton School. It was an open house format for all ages to visit with Santa, play reindeer games, and participate in other fun activities! Thank you to all the families that joined us in making this night magical and fun!
